The 4th annual fashion show at the 2014 Western trade show showcased BOTH new and tried & true plants and products from Western exhibitors. The Fashion Show was Sunday afternoon, Jan. 5th.

  • Monarch butterflies rely on native milkweeds, without them they will not survive. There are many types of native milkweeds that can be incorporated into the landscape to provide beauty as well as help support a species in peril. The Monarch butterfly needs us as an industry to help with its survival. Take a monarch out to lunch by planting a milkweed.

  • Specifically developed to handle difficult urban conditions and the rigors of the upper Midwest, the Exclamation! ™ London Plane Tree is proving to be a superior landscape tree throughout the country. Its strong central leader, uniform upright pyramidal shape, vigorous growth rate and resistance to both anthracnose and powdery mildew makes it an excellent selection for parking lot islands, median strip plantings, as a residential street tree, or as a landscape shade tree. London plane trees are noted for excellent tolerance to difficult urban conditions and Exclamation!™ is no exception, with a high tolerance for air pollution, poor drainage, compacted soil, and/or drought. The medium green foliage is attractive all summer, with an occasional display of yellow fall color. Exclamation!™ develops exquisite exfoliating bark at an early age. The patchwork bark in white, tan, brown and green can be enjoyed year around. Nurseryman appreciate this tree for its vigor, field uniformity, and ease of spring transplanting.   • BougainFeelYa is the newest edition to the continuously growing Look-A-Likes® series. This is a new series of roses with blooms that don’t look like traditional rose blossoms. The flowers of BougainFeelYa are dark red, non-fading and they are shaped similar to that of a Bougainvillea, but don’t be fooled, this is not a climbing rose! Flowers form continuously throughout the season and it is covered with hips in the fall. BougainFeelYa performs well on its own roots and is tolerant to a range of soil pH’s. It is also very resistant to rust and mildews and has a decent tolerance for black spot.
