Breaking Ground is a growing residential/commercial Landscape design-build firm located near Omaha, NE.  We currently have an exciting opportunity open for a Landscape Designer.

The qualified individual should have a minimum of 3 years experience in sales, design, estimating and installation management.  The successful applicant will be required to call on existing clients, follow up on leads, and assist in a team approach to the design, installation and maintenance process, with the goal of bringing new clientele and increasing sales for the company.

Job requirements include: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture with emphasis in Landscape Design.
  • Be able to represent the company in a business-like and professional manner. 
  • Valid drivers’ license, and reliable and insured vehicle
  • Computer proficiency

Job Title:  Landscape Designer
Pay Type:  Salary

Skills Required:

Experience in hand drafting and computer drafting techniques for landscape designs.
Knowledge of plant material for Temperate Zones 5 & 6.
Experience in both design and installation of hardscapes, including large retaining walls, paver & flagstone patios, pondscapes & water features.
Ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain a Class E commercial license.
Enjoys working with customers and works well in a team atmosphere with foremen and crewmen.
Self Motivated with good Time Management skills.
Ability and desire to learn the processes of Full Features and grow within the company.
Desire to put forth new ideas and ability to help acclimate them.
Must have reliable self transportation.

Job Expectations:

Designer is responsible for visiting with customers who inquire about our landscape services to see the type and scope of work they desire.  Designer will visit the customers home and property to take measurements and put together an initial plan.  Designer will return to the office, draw up the design and work up a bid for the project.  Designer will visit with the customer again in an attempt to make the sale, get the job scheduled and get a down payment for the job.  Designer will fill out and provide all documentation necessary to the Landscape Installers.  Designer will be available to make certain that everything is going as planned and that the customer is satisfied with the work.  Designer will make certain that all labor hours, job materials, project “Add Ons” and credit memos are accounted for and in customer file for proper invoicing.  Designer will follow up with customers for future projects, Retail store events, and general good customer service.


Job Title:  Quality Control Foreman
Pay Type: Sallary

Skills Required:

Knowledge of plant material for Temperate Zones 5 & 6 and proper installation techniques.
Experience with professional installation practices of hardscapes, including large retaining walls, paver & flagstone patios, pondscapes & water features.  Earned Certifications are a plus and the ability and desire to grow and obtain certifications are a must.
Ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain a Class E commercial license.
Ability to schedule work loads for 2-3 crews as projects are sold by designers.  Must communicate schedule, time constraints, and job changes between customers and designers on a daily basis.
Must have good managing and organizing skills to keep crews productive.
Enjoys working with customers and works well in a team atmosphere with foremen and crewmen.
Self Motivated with good Time Management skills.
Ability and desire to learn the processes of Full Features and grow within the company.
Desire to put forth new ideas and ability to help acclimate them.
Must have reliable self transportation.
Flexible schedule, able to work Monday – Friday, plus Saturdays when needed.  (Normal work week is 50 hours, where “rain days” are made up on Saturdays.)

Job Expectations:

Quality Control Foreman will receive sold project files from designers and schedule those jobs on the project board.  Quality Control Foreman will keep customers, designers, and crews informed of job schedule and changes on a daily basis.  Quality Control Foreman will make certain Dig Rite has been called on all projects and all materials have been ordered and accounted for.  Quality Control Foreman will make sure all job materials and labor hours are accounted for and documented along with any receipts, project “add on” sheets and credit memos.  Quality Control Foreman will keep charge of all foreman and crewman training, and help resolve any job complications.  Quality Control Foreman will keep all tools and equipment properly maintained, including checking fluids in trucks, loaders, and mini excavators as well as keeping hand tools cleaned, sharpened and in best working order.


Job Title:  Landscape Foreman
Pay Type:  $12 - $16 / hour

Skills Required:

Knowledge of plant material for Temperate Zones 5 & 6 and proper installation techniques.
Experience with professional installation practices of hardscapes, including large retaining walls, paver & flagstone patios, pondscapes & water features.  Earned Certifications are a plus and the ability and desire to grow and obtain certifications are a must.

Job Expectations:

Foreman will receive specific project instructions from Quality Control Foreman and project Designer.  Foreman will load materials and tools needed each day.  Foreman will lead crews in completing projects within specified time constraints and material budget given.  Foreman will be responsible for keeping equipment and tools cared for and maintained while on site and cleaned upon return.  Foreman is responsible to help train crewman in specific job activities while on site.
Foreman will make sure all tools are unloaded and put away properly.  Foreman will fill out “Total Job Sheets” to keep track of labor hours and materials used.


Job Title:  Landscape Crewman
Pay Type:  $8 - $12 / hour

Skills Required:

Ability to take direction and follow instructions.
Ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain a Class E commercial license.
Enjoys working in a team atmosphere with other foremen and crewmen.
Ability and desire to learn the processes of Full Features and grow within the company.
Must have reliable self transportation.
Ability to lift at least 90 lbs repetitively throughout an 8 – 10  hour work day.
