2019 Western Limited Tickets Available
The Western in Kansas City is known for innovation and interaction and the Western Nursery & Landscape Association will deliver again on January 16-18, 2019 in Kansas City!
New at the 2019 Western is “The Sheridan Nurseries’ Way to Success with Art Vanden Enden,” a lunch & workshop for garden center owners & managers. “Hiring Right and Training,” as well as “Merchandising for Retail Success,” will be the focus of the half-day workshop.
Targeting design teams, Roy Diblik, Northwind Perennial Farm, will present a design workshop. Roy will discuss 16 plants and the value of coming to know them, layout patterns and evaluate them based on stewardship needs, discuss gardening practices and discuss the transformational time we are in within the Horticultural industry.
Native plant “geeks,” and those not so geeky, can connect with like-minded native plant professionals at a Thursday evening gathering, a 2019 Western event in partnership with the Kansas City Native Plant Initiative.
Be a champion at the 2019 Western and join the CEO/Owner Breakfast Club or Women in Horticulture Breakfast! The CEO/Owner Breakfast Club meeting, held monthly in Kansas City, will become a 5-state regional Breakfast Club Meeting at the 2019 Western, providing an opportunity for CEOs/Owners to network with colleagues from a much larger geographical area. "Joining a peer group, it seems, can make life at the top a good deal less lonely." (Harvard Business Review).
Women in horticulture, maximize your power as a woman in the workforce! Leslie Halleck, Halleck Horticultural LLC says “It's no secret that as women we face distinct challenges in the workforce. But we also bring distinct skills that benefit us and our industry. Are you promoting your own professional strengths and skills strongly enough? Are you leveraging the strengths of other women in the workplace to help us all rise together? Join for a shot of inspiration and tips on how to navigate the industry as a Woman in Horticulture.”
Emerging Leaders will find a “home” at the 2019 Western. The WNLA Omaha and Kansas City Emerging Leaders are teaming up to create an Emerging
Leaders Café on the trade show floor where Emerging Leaders and students can gather. In addition, Jamie Berry, University of Missouri - Kansas City, will moderate an Emerging Leader discussion on topics relevant to the next generation of horticulture industry leaders. Emerging Leaders will also have the opportunity to connect one-on-one with mentors at a Micro-Mentoring Lunch.
The Western will welcome the industry to Kansas City on Wednesday evening with legendary Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que and Boulevard Brewing beer at Boulevard Brewing Company. Shannon Curry, Hoffman Nursery, will do a quick-fire presentation on Staying Relevant with the Power of Plants and a few very special awards will be presented.
All of these special events will connect you with like-minded industry professionals. These events are ticketed events, with limited ticket availability. Register to attend The Western and purchase add-on tickets on www.wnla.org.
